The Big H's that need our full attention

Hunger and Housing are critical issues. A roof over your head and food on your plate are fundamental human rights. We can all agree on that. 

Those are two big “H’s” that many organizations are already valiantly combating and trying to solve. We root for those orgs fully.

However, there’s another big “H” that often gets overlooked. It’s the issue of Humiliation.

Having access to a private, safe space to relieve yourself is also a basic human right.

We usually like to keep the language light here, but sometimes, it’s necessary not to shy away from the crisis unfolding daily in our community. It’d be a mistake to downplay the urgency and importance of this lack of toilet equity.

We ask you to earmuff the kids for this next line… There are vulnerable people out there that need a safe space to shit.

That’s strong language, but it’s real, and it captures the full weight of the accessibility problem in our own backyard.
